Equifax said earlier this month that it had determined some 8,000 Canadian consumers were also impacted by the breach, far fewer than the 100,000 it had previously warned were at risk.
Sky News understands that this estimate was increased after third parties investigating the attack found that another large dataset had been stolen. The hackers also accessed the phone numbers of most of the almost 700,000 citizens, while around 30,000 drivers license numbers were exposed.
Equifax will inform 693,665 customers in the United Kingdom that their data was stolen by hackers in a September cyberattack.
Equifax said customers who receive a letter from the firm can make use of its identity protection service and contact its staff through a seven-day help line.

Nearly 13,000 consumers had an email address associated with their Equifax.co.uk account accessed in 2014, while just under 15,000 consumers had portions of their Equifax membership details - such as username, password, secret questions and answers and partial credit card details - accessed.
Patricio Remon, Equifax's Europe chief, again apologised to anyone affected by the hacking.
"Let me take this opportunity to emphasise that protecting the data of our consumers and clients is always our top priority".
