Harvey Weinstein's wife Georgina Chapman announces separation amid sexual harassment scandal


Prominent Democratic senators including Patrick Leahy of Vermont, Elizabeth Warren of MA, and Richard Blumenthal of CT, among others, have said they will transfer the amounts they received from Weinstein to charity. Both said the incidents happened early in their careers.

Prominent Democrats have faced pressure to disavow Weinstein and donate his campaign contributions to charity since reports this month in The New York Times and New Yorker detailed numerous sexual harassment allegations against Weinstein over decades. Previous allegations which led to his weekend sacking from The Weinstein Company had so far been limited to complaints about harassment. Sixteen former and current employees of his companies said that they had known of the behavior.

"My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions", Georgina Chapman, 41, told People magazine.

Chapman married the condemned Hollywood producer in 2007 and has two children, a daughter named India Pearl, and a son named Dashiell Max Robert, with him.

Meanwhile ex-President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle have joined the growing public condemnation.

Weinstein was a big donor to the Democratic party under Mr Obama's leadership.

Mrs Clinton said she was "shocked and appalled" by the revelations. Several of those accusations were previously reported by the New York Times, which published a story last week detailing eight sexual assault claims against Weinstein.

"This behaviour towards women in any field, any country is unacceptable".

"I know he has crushed a lot of people before", Argento told the New Yorker.

She said she told her then-boyfriend Brad Pitt about the incident, and said he confronted Weinstein. "I felt guilty as if I did something wrong", she said.

Delevingne starred in the film Tulip Fever, which Weinstein produced, but it remains unclear if that's the movie she is referencing in her statement.

A third woman, who did not want to be named, said Weinstein had "forced himself on me sexually".

Other allegations in the piece came from Mira Sorvino, who won an Oscar in 1996 for her role in Mighty Aphrodite for Miramax, a studio headed by Weinstein at the time.

Audio of their conversation in a hallway at the Tribeca Grand Hotel was released by the magazine, with Weinstein heard repeatedly trying to persuade her to come into his room.

According to the New Yorker, Gutierrez says Weinstein "lunged at her, groping her breasts and attempting to put a hand up her skirt" at a meeting in his offices in Tribeca.
