Watches were conspicuously absent from Google's big hardware event last week, and the Google Store site refresh has removed all non-Google products, including LG's recently released Android Wear watches. According to one of the developers on the Android Wear team, smartwatches with Android Wear 2.0 included can get updates straight from the Google Play Store when the Android Wear companion app is updated.

Announced via Google+ this week, the only place Android Wear news seems to be alive and well, the wearable platform from Google will receive incremental updates via official Android Wear app updates on Google Play, instead of all things being pushed through in an OTA.

So there was no need for users to be checking for updates on their watches, like they've had to do with software updates, like to Android Wear 2.0.
