In March this year, Shivam came up with the idea of ordering expensive mobile phones from online store Amazon and later claiming refund on the pretext that the phone box was empty. A resident of Tri Nagar, Delhi, he used multiple SIM cards and Amazon India accounts to place his order. "That's how he earned refunds through gift voucher", said the police. They immediately filed a FIR, which later led to the arrest of the 21-year-old man. Fake IDs and a number of mobile SIM cards provided by an accomplice made his job easy. In shocking revelation about their trick, the police officer said that the accused had used 141 numbers and 48 different customer accounts and a refund in full was sought against all orders.

Other than Shivam, a small telecom store owner Sachin Jain age 38 was also arrested because the store owner had supplied him almost 141 activated SIM for placing the order from Amazon. Since the addresses were incorrect, the delivery men failed to locate the address on the package and would call the accused for directions.

Following an enquiry, a case was registered with the Delhi Police in August.

An Amazon India spokesperson later thanks ed the Delhi police for their services in an official statement and added, "We continue to work closely with the Delhi Police and thank them for all their efforts in the investigation".

Following the complaints, investigation was taken up and with the help of Amazon's delivery boys, accused Shivam Chopra was arrested from his house in Ganesh Pura's Tri Nagar on Talab Road.
