Amazon introduces a new waterproof Kindle Oasis with bigger screen


Amazon has announced a new variant of the popular e-reader range called Kindle. The devices are available to pre-order on Amazon India, and will go on sale on November 15th.

The all-new Amazon Kindle Oasis is the upgraded version of the Amazon Kindle Oasis and comes with a brighter 7-inch glare-free display with 60 percent more LEDs than the Kindle Voyage and Kindle Paperwhite and a high resolution 300 ppi (pixels per inch) display.

SpaceX Satellites Launched, Rocket Hits Landing
This is the second launch this week for SpaceX , after it competed its Iridium-3 mission on Monday morning. SpaceX is planning to launch a Falcon 9 rocket Wednesday night from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Apart from being the company's first waterproof Kindle e-reader, the Kindle Oasis is also Amazon's thinnest and lightest Kindle e-reader ever.

"Ten years ago, we introduced our first Kindle with the mission of delivering any book every written in 60 seconds or less", said Dave Limp, Senior Vice President, Amazon Devices, in a statement. For waterproofing, the Kindle Oasis is IPX8 rated, which means it should withstand immersion in over 1-metre of water.

The organization said they are also establishing a new program for older girls using the same curriculum as the Boy Scouts. Melanie Whitman, part of Gladwin Cub Scouts Pack 3779, says it's too soon to tell.

The new Oasis also supports audiobooks, allowing you to connect Bluetooth headphones or speakers to listen to your books wherever you are. In India, it's partnering with Vodafone for this, but the company says it will wireless coverage in "over 100 countries and territories". The base model - without 4G capability and with 8 GB of storage - costs $250 (roughly Rs. 16,290). The more premium leather covers in Merlot and Black options come for Rs. 3,999. The Kindle Oasis is now available for pre-order.
