Nehra is now part of three-match T20I series against Australia but he didn't feature in the first two matches.

An official in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told news agency Press Trust of India that Nehra informed coach Ravi Shastri and captain Virat Kohli about his decision. "So it can't get bigger than retiring in front of your home fans where I played my first Ranji Trophy game 20 years ago", said the pacer on the eve of the third and final T20 against Australia here tomorrow.

"Had there not been a match at Kotla next month, Ashish would have retired after playing the third T20 worldwide at Hyderabad on October 13".

Overall, Nehra has 44 Test wickets, 157 ODI wickets and 34 scalps in T20Is.

The left-arm speedster, who is now with the Virat Kohli-led Indian side, announced his decision here during the pre-match press conference.
