While it didn't come as fast as many fans would have liked or anticipated, Andrew Wiggins finally signed a contract extension with the Timberwolves, the team announced Wednesday.

However, according to The Washington Post's Tim Bontemps, the deal is presumably worth the maximum of $148 million over five years. I want to thank Glen Taylor, Tom Thibodeau, the entire coaching staff and my teammates for believing in me. The extension will kick in at the beginning of the 2018-19 season, after Wiggins' rookie contract expires. The 22-year-old swingman is coming off a career-high 23.6 points per game, but it'll be interesting to see how he adapts to playing next to Jimmy Butler. He scored 40 or more points 5 different times last season. "I look forward to doing right by them and bringing this team to the postseason".

Coach , however, has lost some of its shine in recent years in part due to the financial recession and increased online shopping. According to the company's Chief Executive Officer Victor Luis, "We are now at a defining moment in our corporate reinvention".

"I'm very excited to continue my career with the Timberwolves", said Wiggins. "We feel strongly that he is just scratching the surface of the player he will become".

It elevates the six-foot-eight swingman into the upper echelon of National Basketball Association earners despite the fact he has never played in a post-season game and is now being touted as a complementary player on a Minnesota team that includes all-star Jimmy Butler and emerging star Karl-Anthony Towns. Andrew is among the elite young talents in our league and the sky is the limit for him.
