Samsung's New And Improved Bixby 2.0 Is Coming On 18 October

Samsung's mobile business chief, Koh Dong-jin recently noted that Bixby hasn't been a resounding success, and that Bixby 2.0 would address the shortcomings of its predecessor.

Former vice chief of Samsung Research in America, Chung Eui-suk, is now the head of Samsung's service intelligence group at its headquarters in South Korea, having been appointed to over see the next steps for Bixby which will aim to reverse the lacklustre response the virtual assistant has had, according to the Korean Herald. The service intelligence group is in charge of developing Bixby and other artificial intelligence services. He had previously worked for Ericsson and Samsung's smartphone research center. The report adds that Rhee In-jong, Samsung Mobile's Chief Technology Officer, who headed Bixby both in Korean and English versions, will reportedly be in charge of smartphone development excluding Bixby. It talks about how most consider it a beta and not necessarily a polished product thanks in part to it still struggling to clearly understand all commands. This, however, may change in the near future: Samsung is said to be releasing an upgraded version of Bixby dubbed Bixby 2.0. Of course, it also points out that the English version of Bixby was delayed for a couple of months.
