Tesla recalls 11000 Tesla Model X SUVs

In April 2016, around 2,700 vehicles were recalled because the carmaker said testing had revealed that the third row could slide forward during a crash.

Although Tesla has not received reports of any issues or accidents relating to this condition, we will be inspecting the affected customers' cars so that we can confirm whether any adjustment is needed.

Tesla recalls tend to be voluntary, and its latest is no exception. The issue at hand only affects Model X vehicles with second-row fold-flat seats with build dates between October 28, 2016, and August 16, 2017.

The Elon Musk-founded automaker says that the Model X problem is the result of cables within the seat that have not been properly tightened. Improperly adjusted cables could cause the seat back on the driver-side second-row seat to move forward during a crash, which increases the chance of injury. Tesla estimates the fix will take approximately 10 minutes.

The letter has indicated that it is still "no issues" driving the Model X SUVs but customers' were told to avoid sitting in the second row left and centre seating positions at the same time until it has been ascertained that the issues to the cables are non-existent. There haven't been any reports of seat issues in the field.
