SACP slams 'factional' removal of Nzimande as Minister

President Zuma's cabinet reshuffle that took place this morning shocked many including the South African Communist Party and has declared war against the president over Dr Blade Nzimande's sacking.

While confirming it received a courtesy call from Zuma before announcing the reshuffle, Cosatu said it found the "frequency" of cabinet reshuffles unsettling and contributing towards instability at key government departments.

In Tuesday's reshuffle, Nzimande was replaced by Hlengiwe Mkhize, former Home Affairs Minister.

Ayanda Dlodlo, who headed the communication ministry, takes over the Home Affairs portfolio and former Security Minister David Mahlobo, moves to energy.

Chipmaker Wants Making and Selling of iPhones in China Banned
Apple has blasted Qualcomm's practices as monopolistic, while Qualcomm has hit back at Apple for using patents without a license. Apple claimed it had been overcharged billions of dollars by Qualcomm , before the semiconductor company counterclaimed .

Adv Bongani Thomas Bongo is the Minister of State Security, replacing David Mahlobo.

Mmamaloko Kubayi is the Minister of Communications.

The SACP were also critical of the lack of consultation with the rest of the tripartite alliance in making the decisions and added fresh calls for Zuma to vacate his position as President of the country. Zuma may have been anxious by her recent statements that South Africa would proceed with a new nuclear power programme only if additional funding were found. Mahlobo may be less hesitant. If a candidate other than Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma wins the ANC's presidential election, Zuma could be out as state president as early as January.

"There are now multiple uncertainties from (ratings agency) downgrades to cabinet reshuffles", said Niall Kramer, CEO of upstream lobby the South African Oil and Gas Alliance (SAOGA).

Tottenham captain Lloris: More to Real Madrid than incredible Ronaldo
It's true he hadn't scored many goals in the league so far this season but in the Champions League he has. "It was a matter of time; Cristiano is a lethal finisher", he said.

Remember that Zuma's favourite son, Duduzane, and the Guptas own Shiva Uranium, who will be one of the chief beneficiaries of a nuclear deal. Mahlobo has now been trusted with pushing the deal through - and fast.

Kubayi was supposed to fast-track the deal after Tina Joemat-Petersson got the boot in March for failing to do so, but she probably moved too slowly in Zuma's view.

Oh, but it's a busy news day in South Africa folks.
