Dead, Suspect In Custody In Lake County Shooting

A suspect has been arrested after three people, including a California Highway Patrol officer, were shot near a post office in Clearlake Oaks Monday afternoon.

A shooting prompted a shelter in place for Clearlake Oaks residents Monday, according to Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The gunman, identified as Alan Asmore, 61, was taken into custody. Investigators believe he started a fire in vegetation as he tried to flee, Martin said.

Clearlake Oaks is a small community on the shore of Clear Lake about 115 miles northeast of San Francisco.
