The Walking Dead Season 8 Premiere Is Lowest-Rated Since Season 3

Networks stock was down more than 3% in Tuesday trading two days after its big franchise hit, "The Walking Dead", tumbled in its eighth-season premiere. The show's come under more fire creatively than it has in the past, there's an oversaturation of the zombie market at the moment, and we also do feel as though the show is hurt by not having a set end in sight.

According to Nielsen live-plus-same day data, the season eight opener averaged 11.4 million viewers and a 5.0 in the demo, which works out to 6.49 million adults 18 to 49.

The market capitalization (Stock Price Multiply by Total Number of Outstanding Shares) for the company is reported at $261.67B. Finally, Old Mutual Global Investors UK Ltd. lifted its position in shares of Wal-Mart Stores by 4.0% during the 1st quarter.

Nevertheless, "The Walking Dead" is one of few shows that could experience such a steep decline and still remain in solid ratings shape.

At this rather early stage of the 2017-18 broadcast season, NBC's "This Is Us" is averaging roughly the same number of overall viewers as Sunday's installment of "The Walking Dead", although the cable drama is beating NBC's sophomore powerhouse among advertiser-coveted viewers. It's still getting higher ratings than nearly anything else out there; it's just not dominating in the way that it did. However, it should be noted that last season's premiere was the resolution of a major cliffhanger, while the new season was not. That's down 33 percent from the 17 million who watched last fall's seventh season premiere.

To be fair, though, both broadcast show premieres outperformed "The Walking Dead" in total viewers.

One advantage "This Is Us" holds over "The Walking Dead" is that it actually delivers additional commercial impressions in playback.

Rian Johnson did warn us beforehand, however, we just couldn't stop ourselves from watching a shiny new Star Wars trailer, and it was really good.
