EA acquiring Respawn Entertainment for up to $455M

EA has announced that it has purchased the Titanfall studio, Respawn, in a deal which is worth $455 million and includes all cash, equity and performance milestone payments.

Zampella told VentureBeat that Respawn has "worked together [with EA] a long time from the inception of the studio", and that talk of an acquisition has come up previously.

Early previous year, EA announced that it had contracted Respawn to make a Star Wars action game, in addition to the Battlefront series and what was then planned as a Star Wars action-adventure from Visceral, which has since been canceled.

Lawyer says attack on Sen. Paul not political
The report also said "the defendant admitted going onto Paul's property and tackling him". More frightening than the attack itself is the relative neglect this story has received.

"We've seen firsthand the world-class caliber of Respawn as a development studio with incredible vision, deep talent and an inspiring creative mindset", EA CEO Andrew Wilson said in a press release.

EA has served as the publisher of Respawn's games so far, including last year's Titanfall 2. Titanfall 2 fell short of expectations despite a strongly positive critical response, and there appeared to be uncertainty about the future of the series.

While in the long term, the partnership is already resulting in Respawn working on a Star Wars game. The two companies have worked together extensively in the past, as Electronic Arts published both Titanfall titles, and Respawn are now working on a Star Wars title.

Hulu is Coming to the Nintendo Switch Today
With Hulu now on the Switch you have to imagine Netflix, Amazon, and the rest of the streaming pack won't be far behind. Nintendo debuted the Switch - a hybrid console that can be connected to a TV or used as a mobile device - in March 2017.

Whatever it is, we'll likely hear more about it soon with EA taking charge of Respawn. "Together, we've brought this to life in the Titanfall franchise, and now with the Respawn team joining EA, we have exciting plans to accomplish even more unbelievable things in the future".

Electronic Arts is purchasing Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment. EA Play is usually full of big announcements, so something could be out as early as Summer 2018. The studio's first two Titanfall games were published by EA.
