EA Acquires Respawn Entertainment, New Titanfall Game In Development

Respawn Entertainment was formed in 2010 by two of the creators of Call Of Duty, who left Activision under acrimonious circumstances and created the Titanfall series as a direct competitor to Call Of Duty.

Respawn Entertainment, the video game company behind the "Titanfall" franchise, has been acquired by Electronic Arts Inc.in a deal valued at up to $455 million. According to Respawn CEO Vince Zampella, the move to EA wasn't done out of necessity. EA will provide us with more resources, access to new technologies, and expertise that we can tap into to that will help us make better games, and Respawn will retain the same creative freedom and culture we've always had.

Respawn and EA have multiple projects now in development, including a new Titanfall title, a game in the Star Wars universe, and a VR gaming experience.

Zampella also said that he will continue to run things at Respawn and will be a part of the studio leadership team at EA.
