Washington D.C [US] Nov 11: The recent bug in Google's latest offerings, Pixel 2 and 2 XL prevents Google Assistant from working on Bluetooth headphones. The catch is that means at least for now if your Pixel 2 XL has the screen edge issue, you are stuck with it.
Interestingly, Google unveiled the Pixel Buds Bluetooth-enabled headphones alongside the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL earlier this year that are created to deliver a Google Assistant experience while on the go.

Google has now revealed details on how its Pixel 2 and 2 XL smartphones record videos, the company uses a combination of electronic image stabilization (EIS) and optical image stabilization (OIS) to record video. "There is a fairly large area in the bottom right corner that is unresponsive, and the taps aren't registered", a Pixel 2 XL user wrote while explaining the issue on the support forum.
For now, it appears that the unresponsive screen edges of Google Pixel 2 XL have nothing to do with hardware defects. The assumption is that the issue causing the problem is overzealous accidental touch protection logic, something easily fixable with an OTA update. He revealed that Google is now working on a fix to solve the problem.
