Salvation Army Christmas kettle appeal gets going

The Salvation Army is gearing up for the holiday season, which means the nonprofit needs bell-ringers to staff its iconic red collection kettles. Volunteer bell ringers will be collecting donations through December 31, and the money raised will assist families in Marion, Ralls, Lewis, Monroe and Shelby counties with utilities, rent, medicine and transportation.
