Neighbors who live on Andover on Detroit's east side will be the first to tell you this area is known for constant drug activity.

"This is probably one of the most embarrassing things I've seen in this department since I've been appointed as chief". That's one theory, Craig says, but again, the investigation is still ongoing. He was joined by several members of his command staff.

An internal investigation has been launched by Detroit Police Department into the incident last week.

Eventually, the Wayne County Prosecutor will review the video to determine if criminal charges will be filed.

Craig was asked if at any point the officers in plain clothes made it clear they were officers.

He also said he met with all of his executive command team Monday morning to reinforce his expectations.

Craig said officers from the 11th Precinct were in the process of raiding a suspected drug house near East Seven Mile and I-75. Management from the 12th Precinct should have reached out to the 11th Precinct, giving them a heads up but that didn't happen.

It began when the 11th Precinct obtained a search warrant on Thursday. Officers recovered a handgun from the house.

Protocols for operating in other precincts were put in place in 1986 when two undercover Detroit officers were shot and killed by uniformed officers.

The plain-clothes officers were directed to the ground and at some point, an officer from the 11th Precinct pointed a shotgun at the officers, Craig said.

Don't panic, Delhi air quality improving: Environment Minister

"It appears that this supervisor did not have control of the situation", Craig added, "and had a tendency to get the officers from the 12th Precinct excited to the point we have this very embarrassing situation".

"This is when it starts to go terribly wrong", he said.

There was also confusion inside the home, as arguments turned into a physical fight. Then an officer punched back.

Moreno declined further comment on the "altercation" and said she could not confirm that punches were drawn or that undercover officers drew their service weapons during the incident. Those officers are now on restricted duty, and a supervisor was reassigned from special operations, pending the outcome of the investigation. "It didn't, and for that we're very thankful".
