PNG army will not use Force to remove Asylum Seekers

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has blasted Australia's handling of the refugee crisis on Manus Island as unacceptable as she seeks another meeting with Malcolm Turnbull on the issue.

Last week Ms Ardern offered for New Zealand to accept 150 refugee and asylum seekers now detained in a number of Australia's offshore centres.

"I think it's clear that we don't see what's happening there as acceptable, that's why the offer's there", she said. "We have been visiting Manus island several times over the last couple of years, we have reported on the very dire conditions in these centers". No matter what label you put on it there is absolute need and there is harm being done, ' she said on Sunday.

She admitted persisting with the issue had the risk of her becoming an irritant to Australia, but said it was important to highlight New Zealand's ability to assist. Turnbull snubbed the offer when she raised it in bilateral meetings in Sydney a week ago. "If these people are taken in by New Zealand it will effectively be a back door into Australia", he said in a reference to the 1000 asylum seekers who died while travelling by boat to Australia between 2007 and 2013.

In Hanoi on Sunday, Trump also pointed to sanctions the US has imposed on Russian Federation as punishment for election meddling. This backdrop makes the conflicting reports from their most recent meetings all the more confusing.

"She knows full well the Australian government is not going to take up the offer".

John Key first made it to then Australian leader Julia Gillard in 2013.

DESPITE setting another deadline for the 379 refugees and asylum seekers at the Manus Island regional processing centre to leave yesterday or face forcible eviction, Manus police commander David Yapu says force will not be used to move them.

Mr Trump has called it a "dumb deal" but Mr Turnbull said it is Australia's priority over New Zealand's offer.
