Sudanese president to visit Uganda to fix bilateral ties

Bashir vowed on April 19, to teach "a lesson by force" to the South Sudanese government over its seizure of the north's main Heglig oil field.

Rights groups on Monday urged Ugandan government to arrest the visiting president of Sudan, who has always been wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity, genocide and war crimes.

Al-Bashir has arrived in Kampala on Sunday for a three-day visit on the invitation of President Museveni.

It added that al-Bashir and Museveni would hold talks on bilateral ties and means of developing relations further as well as issues of mutual concern.

The Undersecretary/Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sudan visited Uganda from October 5-6, 2017 and met his counterpart Amb.

The two leaders in a communique issued after the talks in Entebbe, 40 km south of the Ugandan capital Kampala, agreed to convene a Joint Investment Conference in Khartoum to showcase trade and investment opportunities in both countries. Uganda will be hosting the 6th Session of the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) by March 2018.

Uganda's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that during al-Bashir's visit "areas of cooperation will be discussed, including trade and investment, agriculture, regional peace and security as well as global matters of mutual interest".

Sudan buys 20 percent of its coffee from Uganda, a big export market for the product from which about $100 million is earned annually.

The two leaders are holding bilateral discussions on trade and security.

President Al-Bashir is being accompanied by a strong business delegation comprising different sectors of his country's economy.

The highpoint of the visit is a Sudan-Uganda Business Forum to be held on Tuesday.
