The Tehama County Sheriff's Office is now calling on the Department of Justice to investigate the shooting.

The shooter is understood to have been killed by law enforcement authorities. A semi-automatic rifle and two handguns were recovered from one of the crime scenes, police said.

Jeanine Quist, an admin assistant with the Corning Union Elementary School District, said no one was killed at the school but a "number" of students were shot and wounded.
