THE Duchess of Cambridge's uncle has admitted hitting his wife in the face and knocking her to the ground after a drunken argument on the way home from a charity event.
Kate Middleton's uncle, Gary Goldsmith, admitted to physically assaulting his wife, Julie-Ann Goldsmith, on the 14th of November.
The couple's taxi driver, Daniel Shepherd, told police that he saw Julie-Ann, 47, slap her husband.
"He pleaded guilty at Westminster magistrates" court yesterday to a charge of assault by beating.
She said: 'The argument took place in the back of a taxi.

Mrs. Goldsmith doesn't remember how it happened, but Gary punched her in the face which knocked her straight to the floor including her head which bounced on the ground.
During the taxi ride, Mr. Goldsmith and Julie-Ann began shouting at one another after they had been drinking together the entire evening.
Earlier the court heard how Goldsmith asked officers investigating the incident to just give him a caution. Gary responded with a "left hook" that knocked her down.

After losing consciousness for around 15 seconds, Shilton said Julie-Anne Shilton became "upset, starts crying and uses some railings to assist her". During this time, the uncle of Kate Middleton seemed "panicked" and was " back-and-forth in the house trying to make it fit ".

Mrs Goldsmith was taken to hospital in an ambulance after she was hit, but was later discharged, the court heard.
At the police station, Goldsmith denied punching his wife, claiming he had pushed her hard with his left hand, but was apologetic for his actions, the court heard.
"But I am really looking at how to protect this lady from this man", she said.
Goldsmith was brought up in a council estate in Hounslow, west London, and had initially worked as an IT operator before becoming an entrepreneur.
