Redskins Place Rob Kelley, Will Compton on Injured Reserve

Kelley was hurt pretty much from the jump this season, injuring his ribs before spraining his ankle.

Kelley and Compton both suffered their injuries during Washington's 38-30 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. His signing by the Redskins became necessary with the leg and ankle injuries to starting running back Robert Kelley, who along with former starting middle linebacker Will Compton, were both placed on the Reserve/Injured List. Perine doesn't have great pass-game skills and is averaging only 3.2 yards on 66 carries with a long gain of 12, but he should essentially be locked in for double-digit touches each week for as long as Kelley's unavailable. Compton sprained a foot.
