Authorities charged Markiya Mitchell, 25, with second-degree murder in connection with her son Jeremiah Mitchell after police say she admitted to drowning the infant inside her Rochester apartment, the Daily Mail reports.
Upon arrival, they found Jeremiah unresponsive, and were told he was found in that condition in bathtub of the home. When they got there, police say they found the infant, Jeremiah Mitchell. The baby was immediately transported to Rochester General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
"The defendant with intent to cause the infant's death left her infant son submerged in the bath water for a period of 1 to 2 hours", read the felony complaint.

Police said Mitchell admitted to intentionally drowning Jeremiah during initial questioning.
Mitchell will be arraigned on the charge of second-degree murder in Rochester City Court Tuesday morning. A judge ordered she be held in jail without bond. Nevertheless it is now thought that individual is the child's father who Mitchell had been fighting with. Allegedly the woman beat her 7 year old child with hammer, only to recently have gotten her child back from CPS, before relinquishing the child.
