Heupel is a former quarterback - he played two seasons at Oklahoma, leading the Sooners to the 2000 national championship and finishing second in the Heisman race - and is a young, rising star in the profession with a resume filled with prolific offenses. That vision, the wonderful campus, along with the recruiting base not only allows you to have immediate success but sustained success. The team reportedly offered Sumlin the job Sunday, but he was apparently holding out to see if the OR job would come open if coach Willie Taggart chose to take the Florida State job. Shannon should also help Heupel acclimate to head-coaching duties after previously serving as Miami's HC between 2007-2010 and Florida's interim HC after Jim McElwain was sacked this fall.

Heupel will be joined by White and President John C. Hitt at an introductory press conference at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Tigers moved from No. 124 in total offense to No. 7 during his stay in Columbia.
