He agreed to the JD (U)'s contention that the two senior leaders had "voluntarily given up" their membership by defying their party's directives and attending events of opposition parties.

Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu today rejected criticism of his swift decision to disqualify rebel JD (U) MPs Sharad Yadav and Ali Anwar, saying justice delayed is justice denied and such matters should not be left pending.

Both of them have thus ceased to be a Member of the Rajya Sabha with immediate effect. "I decide and declare accordingly".

The action comes in the wake of the petition filed by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar faction seeking the Rajya Sabha Chairman disqualify Sharad Yadav and Ansari.

According to Reddy, his party always supported the disqualification of members who defected to other parties, but Yadav had not defected.

50 injured in Germany train accident
The incident took place near the Meerbusch-Osterath train station in North-Rhine Westphalia, the most populous state in Germany.

The order says that Yadav's public denouncement of Kumar's decision to withdraw from the Mahagathbandhan and align with the BJP and publicly aligning with the rival party of JD (U), namely, RJD, by supporting their leaders and policies, sharing of dias and addressing their meetings/rally, testify to the fact that he no longer supports the policies and decisions of the party, on whose ticket he was elected.

However, after allegations of corruption were raised against Lalu Prasad's son and Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi in August this year, Nitish had stunned and political observers and his party colleagues like Sharad Yadav by first announcing that he was resigning as chief minister and then - within 24 hours - returning to office with the BJP as part of his new ruling coalition.

"The decision will set an example for people like Sharad Yadav and Ali Anwar to not take steps against majority decisions in the party", he said.
