In addition to Moulton and Hassan, five other Democratic senators - all women - called on Franken to step aside or resign on Wednesday: Kristen Gillibrand, of New York, Mazie Hirono, of Hawaii, Claire McCaskill, of Missouri, Kamala Harris, of California and Patty Murray, of Washington.

Al Franken to resign Tuesday after new allegations of sexual assault surfaced.

As reported by Politico, a former Democratic congressional aide claims the incident took place after one of Franken's radio shows before he was a senator.

Several women have leveled accusations against Franken - some anonymously.

Another woman named Lindsay Menz, 33, told CNN in late November that Franken grabbed her buttocks when they posed for a photo together in 2010. He is now under a Senate ethics review for his behavior, which he said he will "fully" cooperate with. The first, a radio newscaster, showed a picture of Franken groping her while she slept during a 2006 U.S.O. tour in the Middle East.
