FG orders Kachikwu, Baru to clear fuel queues by weekend

As at 1p.m. yesterday when THISDAY concluded its round of visits to service stations in Maitama, Wuse, Jabi, along Kubwa Expressway and Nyanya axis, vehicular queues had built up, but the stations were dispensing at the official pump price of N143 to N145 per litre.

Lai Mohammed, Minister for Information and Culture, says the Federal Government has given Ibe Kachikwu, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, the "marching orders" to ensure that fuel queues at filling stations are eliminated before the week runs out.

This is coming amidst renewed queues at major filling stations around the country.

In Katsina, queues were observed in many filling stations in the metropolis yesterday morning but by late evening, the queues had disappeared. There is always more demand for refined products for petroleum during winter period in the colder countries, this is what we are experiencing now.

Baru is expected to appear before the committee on Thursday.
