AN on-duty police officer and a 91-year-old woman have died after a collision on the A4 Bath Road, near Wargrave.

Tributes were also paid on the social media accounts of police forces across the country, while the Police Federation tweeted: "Tragic news - our thoughts and prayers are with PC Dixon's family, friends and colleagues #PoliceFamily".

In a statement, Thames Valley Police it was "devastated" over the death of PC Dixon.

"The collision involved a vehicle and motorcycle which was being ridden by on-duty police officer PC James Dixon".

The officer, who had recently married, was a well-known figure after appearing in the Sky TV programme, which follows police officers as they carry out their jobs.

"Our thoughts remain with Pc Dixon's family and friends, as well as those of the 91-year-old woman, at this very hard time".
