Suffolk star Ed Sheeran receives MBE from the Prince of Wales

On December 7, Sheeran received a MBE - the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire - for his work in the arts, and was presented with the chivalrous distinction at Buckingham Palace.

The pop superstar was awarded the honor for his services to music and charity.

Ed Sheeran has always been modest about his talent, and it's just another reason to love the British crooner.

Asked about the secret of his success, Sheeran played down his achievements, saying: "I think it's persistence".

When asked how he felt about receiving the accolade, Sheeran said he believed his grandfather would be quite proud of him. "... My grandfather ... he died on this day for years ago, so it's actually quite a nice full circle thing, I guess he'd be pretty proud".

The investiture ceremony went rather better than Ed's last brush with royalty too, as he was left needing stitches after an incident at a party held at the home of Charles' younger brother Prince Andrew in November 2016.
