Citing an unnamed source, the website footballscoop.com reported Wednesday night that former BYU offensive line coach Jeff Grimes, now the offensive line coach and running game coordinator at LSU, has accepted the OC position at BYU "pending formal clearance which is expected in the next 24 hours".

Cregg is in his first season with the Chargers after spending three seasons in the same role with the Denver Broncos.

Sports Illustrated's Bruce Feldmen already wrote that sources have indicated the Tigers have selected Grimes' replacement, James Cregg of the Los Angeles Chargers. Grimes spent 2004-06 as BYU's O-line coach.

A source close to the current staff at BYU confirmed that the position has been offered to Grimes, 49, and expects the school to formally announce it Thursday. Three have earned All-America citations. In a stretch of seven years, from 2007-13, LSU had just two offensive linemen drafted - a startling number that caused a coaching change, many believe.
