Weather Authority: Snow likely for Wednesday morning commute


A lake effect snow warning is active for Geauga and Ashtabula counties until midnight Wednesday. "Localized accumulations up to 3" are possible.

More snow is expected from 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11 through 2 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, creating slippery road conditions. This will bring snow to much of the area, however, higher accumulations are expected over our northern counties. There's the potential for more lake-effect bands in the area, with multiple models converging on the possibility of one heavier band lining up along western portions of the lakeshore, extending into Lorain and Medina counties, pointing southeast. Overnight low temperatures will range from 10 to 25 degrees.

The National Weather Service has already issued a winter storm watch for parts of the region, with mentions of up to a foot of snow over northwestern Pennsylvania between Monday night and Wednesday afternoon. Then, a low pressure system will pass north of the area later today and drag a cold front across the region tonight. Temperatures will steadily increase, and should be above average by the end of the weekend.
