Whether or not Liverpool can bring forward their deal for Keita remains to be seen but, last month, Klopp insisted it wasn't going to happen.

RB Leipzig intend to resist Liverpool's attempts to sign Naby Keita in January.

Philippe Coutinho has now arrived at the Camp Nou following his 142 million pound transfer from Liverpool.

With the extra cash that the Reds suddenly find themselves holding, they could offer an extra sum of money to persuade the German club to part with their asset #Early. If the club is able to bring in Keita now or is forced to wait until the summer they could be a far better club than they were before and Klopp will finally have the team he needs to compete for the title. He has also proved to be strong in the defensive midfield position as well.

The club's CEO Oliver Mintzlaff said to Bild earlier this month: "Neither Naby nor his agent have made the request to leave the club in the winter. However, they had apparently not given as much gas as Liverpool".

As soon as the Coutinho deal was announced, attention turned to who Liverpool could sign as a replacement.

However, rumours of a £50m move to Anfield may not be far off the mark, as the midfielder is supposedly keen to join a bigger club.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal supposedly had bids rejected back in August, but the former is expected to revive their interest and could pay a fee north of £100m to get their man.

Naby Keita is now whiling away the days at RB Liepzig ahead of his imminent move to Liverpool, which is ear-marked to go through on July 1st, 2018.

The Guinean has received three red cards since agreeing a move with Liverpool in the summer, including two for Leipzig in the space of 39 days - one in the league and one in the cup.
