In an interview with CNET, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the company is interested in beginning talks with USA carriers this year and that "if the right opportunity and right timing come along, we'll be very happy to experiment". If the company plans on sticking to its release schedule from past year, the OnePlus 6 could arrive in June.

As Android Headlines points out, however, a successful partnership with USA carriers could also pose potential problems for OnePlus. He did not confirm on the name of the next flagship phone from OnePlus, but the naming pattern that it has been using for its smartphones suggests that it will be launching as OnePlus 6. Following convention, India should get the device in June this year.

The announcement comes at a time when OnePlus' current flagship OnePlus 5T is selling like hot cakes. The smartphone is also the first from the company to feature face unlock feature. Also, the company has confirmed that the phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset.

Additionally, Lau stated that "he wasn't 100 percent sure if OnePlus would sell a second phone in 2018".
