Pakistan releases new video of "person of interest" in Zainab rape, murder

Local media reports say that police suspect that the man who raped and murdered Zainab is the same person who abducted, raped and murdered five other children in the city of Kasur in 2017.

Two people were killed by gunshot wounds as enraged protesters armed with sticks and stones attempted to storm the deputy commissioner's office and clashed with police.

The minor whose dead body was found from a garbage pile, went missing en route to her maternal aunt's house, which was minutes away from her home in Road Kot area.

Police believe she may have been held captive for between two and four days following her disappearance on January 4.

Zainab's father claimed that police "did not cooperate" with them: "It is our friends who have stood by us", he regretted. A hashtag #JusticeforZainab has also started trending on social media. "We are now afraid of letting our children leave the home".
