Qudoos Bizenjo of PML-Q elected as new Balochistan Chief Minister

Zardari and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had claimed after ex-CM Sanaullah Zehri's resignation that the new leader of the House would be a PPP member.

Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo was elected as next Chief Minister of Balochistan on Saturday after Sanaullah Zehri stepped down ahead of a no-confidence motion against him.

"I will reach out to all political parties, including PkMAP and NP for parliamentary consultation and we will try to resolve issues in the province by keeping everyone together", said the newly-elected chief minister.

Bizenjo belongs to Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), a party that has just five members in a house of 65. Except Zehri, all the remaining legislators also voted for Bizenjo.

A total 54 votes were polled by the lawmakers and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party's (PkMAP) Agha Syed Liaquat Ali bagged 13 votes.

Zehri stepped down last week after opposition benches filed a no-confidence motion against him.

PML N, Q nominate Quddus Bizenjo was born in Awaran on January 1, 1974, and contested elections for the first time in 2002.

Bizenjo was elected as MPA from Awaran in general election of 2013 after bagging only 544 votes. The turnover was too low as the separatist groups had boycotted the 2013 elections.

He was nominated as deputy speaker of the provincial assembly in June 2013 when PML-Q joined the PML-N led four-party coalition regime.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Quddus Bizenjo on Saturday promised to give healthcare, education and clean drinking water to the people during his reign, while delivering his inaugural speech in the Balochistan Assembly.

He said "The angry Balochs residing overseas would be welcomed if they returned to their homeland".

On January 2, Bizenjo and 14 like-minded members of Balochistan Assembly submitted a no-confidence motion against Sanaullah Zehri of the PML-N, triggering a political crisis in the province.
