Notre Dame football dismisses 4 players, including one of its top WR

Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly on Tuesday dismissed four players from the team, including wide receiver Kevin Stepherson, running backs Deon McIntosh and CJ Holmes, and defensive tackle Brandon Tiassum.

Stepherson, Holmes and McIntosh were all suspended for the Citrus Bowl victory against LSU to close out the 2017 season, but Tiassum has never been publicly suspended by the Irish, though he has seen the field in only three games, all in 2017, over the course of his three-year Irish career.

Tillery led Notre Dame with 4.5 sacks and 11 quarterback hurries, and his 56 tackles were sixth-best on the squad. McIntosh was Notre Dame's third-leading rusher this season, gaining 368 yards on 5.6 yards per carry with five touchdowns in eight games.

Stepherson, a sophomore from Jacksonville, Florida, was Notre Dame's third-leading receiver with 19 catches for 359 yards with five touchdowns in eight games in 2017. He was one of five players arrested on misdemeanor marijuana charges in August of 2016, before he'd even played a game.
