Haqqani militant killed by drone strike in Pakistan

Haqqani Network Commander Ehsan alias Khawari and two of his companions were reportedly killed during the strike conducted in North Waziristan, Dawn news reported.

A suspected USA drone attack on a house in northwestern Pakistan killed two militants from the Afghan Taliban-allied Haqqani network, two Pakistani security officials said on Wednesday, reported Reuters.

Two missiles were fired from the drone at the house in Speen Thall area on the confluence of borders between Hangu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Orakzai agency.

Unidentified security officials said the slain militants were from the Haqqani network, which is based in Pakistan and allied with the Taliban. The drone attack took place in Shanqilay area of Afghanistan.

On Sunday the Afghan interior ministry blamed the group for an hours-long attack on Kabul's Intercontinental Hotel in which at least 22 people were killed, including US, Ukrainian, Kazakh and German citizens.
