Rain changing to snow tonight could lead to messy Monday commute

Rain continues tonight, with thunderstorms moving in from MS, as another main cluster of showers and storms moves in from farther west.

By Friday, temperatures start to warm up in response to another round of rain that will head our way next weekend. It is still almost a week out, we will continue to track timing of the rain as we get closer to Saturday.

Meanwhile, authorities suspended mobile internet service in Anantnag, where the situation is tense. Eesa Fazli hailed from Srinagar while Syed Owais was from Kokernag.

The steady southerly breeze that has been pushing in moisture and warmth will keep going today too, helping move temperatures back into the low 60s for highs. After some lingering morning snow, we will see drier weather through your Monday with highs in the mid 40s. A weak disturbance rolls through the state this afternoon, bringing a chance for rain showers by late afternoon. Temperatures will be above average in the low to mid 60's. Most of the day on Sunday will be a soaker, with a chilly rain and temperatures in the 30s and 40s. This cluster of rain will prompt a flooding threat in low-lying areas and thunderstorms could have some strong gusty wind with them as well.

TONIGHT: Light to moderate rain will overspread the area. The high on Monday will be near 45 degrees. Also, colder air will filter in to the area behind the storm system giving us a chance of wintry mix late Monday.
