Joy Behar Apologizes for Mocking the Christian Faith

The controversy stemmed from a comment Behar made on "The View" last month during a discussion of former White House aide Omarosa Manigault-Newman, who criticized Pence as "scary" and "extreme".

"Like I said before, it's one thing to talk to Jesus. I was raised to respect everyone's religious faith and I fell short of that", Behar said at the top of the show.

Prior to Behar's personal call to Pence, the vice president issued a statement during the C-Span that took place a day after the tirade was aired about his opinion, saying that comparing Christianity to mental illness is simply wrong.

The Washington Post also talked to Behar's manager Bill Stankey, who confirmed that she really apologized to the vice president through a phone call. Iger revealed in his response to that question that Behar had personally apologized to Pence. "I'm a great admirer of Mike Pence and his family", she said.

But Pence said he encouraged Behar to go further. Bozell's watchdog group is presently running a campaign on behalf of aggrieved Christians, urging that viewers contact "View" advertisers about Behar's "hateful, anti-Christian remarks". While speaking with Hannity, he suggested that Behar apologize publicly on The View.

MRC President Brent Bozell issued a statement declaring that Behar's private apology was "not almost enough" and promised to continue his campaign against "anti-Christian bigotry" at the network.

McCain added that she has sometimes felt that "liberals say, "We need to be tolerant of everyone" except prolifers, except Trump supporters, except gun owners, except for everyone in the red in the middle of the country".
