Michael Carrick: Midfielder Scott McTominay is a "shining example"

Manchester United captain Michael Carrick has announced his intention to retire at the end of the season and join Jose Mourinho's coaching staff. "You can't live like you've had a career before you've had the career - you've got to earn it".

He said that a move into coaching at United was "looking likely".

Carrick recently confirmed that he will be retiring from football at the end of the season, but has backed 21-year-old McTominay to go on and achieve great success at the club.

But the problem goes deeper than just a dispute over image rights, said Romeo, the granddaughter of Kahlo's sister Cristina. However, an American company called the Frida Kahlo Corporation insisted it was the legitimate owner of the rights.

Carrick added: "Scott has had a similar ride to Marcus (Rashford)". That's pretty much where I am at'.

Carrick has seen his playing time this season limited after having gone minor surgery to correct an irregular heart rhythm.

He returned to action last month but, speaking at a news conference ahead of Tuesday's Champions League last-16 match against Sevilla, Carrick confirmed the current campaign will be his last. We're still talking about it, to be honest, so there's nothing to totally confirm as yet.
