About 5,000 delegates attended the inauguration of the Science Congress that kicked off with the theme, "Reaching the Unreached through Science and Technology", but only 300-400 scientists were able to make it for the event as Imphal was remote and had poor connectivity, said Achyuta Samanta, General President of the Science Congress. The Prime Minister said the coming together of the strong willpower of millions of Indians is realising the resolve of New India.

The prime minster said now seven out of eight states were connected by rail network and projects were underway to connect the remaining state capitals, including Imphal, to broad gauge network.

He said the projects launched today are related to the aspirations and talent of the youth, their employment, women empowerment and connectivity.
