Hamas, Palestinian factions condemn Abbas measures against Gaza

Ties between Abbas's government and Trump's administration have broken down since the White House recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital in December. His aides have dismissed Jason Greenblatt, President Trump's special representative for worldwide negotiations as a "Zionist", told U.S. ambassador Nikki Haley to "shut up", at the United Nations and have repeatedly criticized Friedman over his sympathy for the settler movement. Not for me to judge, I leave that all up to you.

Her trial opened on February 13 behind closed doors at the Israeli military court in the West Bank.

In response to Abbas, Friedman, who is Jewish, told a conference that Abbas's comments could have anti-Semitic connotations.

Abbas, however, said he was furious over the bomb that targeted the convoy carrying his prime minister and security chief last week, which did not seriously injure anyone.

This is the first time the administration has delivered a stark warning to Abbas.

Trump ordered White House staff to sign non-disclosure agreements
He argued in a statement that the nondisclosure agreements signed by White House staffers "could prevent them from alerting the public to illegal or unethical conduct in the White House".

"Apparently the shock from the truth made them lose their heads".

A driver for the French Consulate in eastern Jerusalem is accused of using the vehicle with diplomatic plates to smuggle weapons from Hamas in Gaza to the West Bank.

Abbas's government has limited autonomy in parts of the West Bank, while the Jewish state annexed east Jerusalem in a move never recognised by the global community.

But in December Trump recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital and in May Friedman will become the first USA ambassador in the city as the embassy is moved.

Abbas, speaking at a Palestinian leadership gathering, also blamed Hamas for a bomb attack last week on the convoy of Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah in Gaza, remarks that threatened reconciliation efforts with the Islamist group.

The EU, as a result, is preparing retaliatory tariffs on US products ranging from bourbon and jeans to Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Abu Rudeineh said the Palestinian National Council will convene soon to emphasize the national goals of preserving the national constants, steadfastness, adherence to the land, defending the holy places and creating a better future for all the free in the world.

Hamas condemned what it called Abbas's "provocative positions", saying its security services were still investigating the explosion.

The harsh criticism comes amid great tension between Hamas and the PA, which have failed to implement a reconciliation framework signed in October previous year aimed at ending a decade-long split between the rival Palestinian factions.

Abbas has already withheld electricity payments to the coastal enclave in an attempt to mount pressure on Hamas to cede power, causing blackouts for Gaza residents.

As anticipated, Lenovo has today resurrected its oddly inactive smartphone brand with the introduction of the S5 in China. Only difference, seems to be the fact, that the Mi A1 is an Android One phone while the S5 runs Lenovo's custom software.
