Ireland 'Can Count on Us' in Brexit Border Fight, Merkel Says

The Prime Minister's handling of the Irish border question could bring Brexit negotiations "crashing down", according to the Government's former chief negotiator on Northern Ireland.

In a major development of Brexit negotiations on Monday, Britain and the European Union agreed to a 19 month transition period after the United Kingdom leaves the EU in March 2019. However, she said that this "exceptional humanitarian situation... should and must not be repeated".

"Prime Minister Modi reiterated his commitment to continue working with Chancellor Merkel for deepening and strengthening the Indo-German bilateral relationship", the release said.
