Mill is now serving a two- to four-year prison sentence for violating his parole stemming from a gun and drugs charge back in 2008. After the meeting, Kraft told reporters that Mill doesn't belong in jail and pushed for criminal justice reform.
There's been some outcry against Mill's punishment, with critics claiming the length of his sentence is too severe for probation violations.
Now, the #FreeMeekMill movement is getting the mayor involved as well.

Rubin is a vocal supporter of the #FreeMeekMill movement himself. Afterward, Kraft called for reform of the criminal justice system. Krasner also said he had no issue with Mill's being released while the appeal was litigated.
