Jets dominate Wild to take 2-0 series lead

Most coaches would have changed something between Games 1 and 2 because, well, that's just what you do when you lose a game, whether it's actually needed or not.

There is something solid, something genuine about this Winnipeg team, a quality that Canadians may just be beginning to realize as they tune in to Jets hockey in earnest for the first time.

Paul Stastny, Andrew Copp and Patrik Laine scored in the third period for Winnipeg.

You look across at these Jets and see four solid lines, a defence that moves the puck north as swiftly and accurately as any, and a goalie who...

"It was a bad turnover".

Winnipeg Jets players congratulate Connor Hellebuyck after their victory in Game 1.

"It tells me that enough is enough", Boudreau said. "He played very, very well for us, didn't score, and that seemed to draw a lot of the concern but his game was good", said Maurice. "It's trying to win a game for your teammates, and your friends, and the guys you spend so much time with together over the year". Only one trip to the playoffs has come since then, a 2015 sweep at the hands of the Anaheim Ducks.

Morrow was acquired at the trade deadline from Montreal in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. "He's fit in seamlessly with our group".

Several cited for drugs after police respond to loud party
WHITESBORO, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities have identified a central NY police officer killed in a vehicle crash. Police are investigating after a seven-month-old girl died in Wellington earlier this month.

After the game Elliott was asked how much it meant to him to have Hakstol stick with him after such a tough first game, especially while still recovering from an injury that kept him out of the lineup for 25 games. "Somebody who's kind of on the outskirts, or in and out a bit".

Connor Hellebuyck made 18 saves for the Jets, who finished second overall in the National Hockey League and Central Division with 114 points (52-20-10).

If the Jets win, they'll be in complete control, but if the Wild win, they'll wrestle away home-ice advantage.

It was a scoreless first period, though the Jets held a 13-4 edge in shots on goal.

With 10 seconds left in the game, fists started flying and a total of 65 penalty minutes were recorded.

The Jets had the game's first power play 24 seconds into the middle period after Minnesota's Eric Staal was called for tripping.

Byfuglien was sent to the box six minutes later for roughing and Minnesota put a few shots at Hellebuyck, but it was the Jets who capitalized on their second chance with the man advantage. Devan Dubnyk stopped 40 shots for Minnesota to go along with Wednesday's 37.

The Wild outshot the Jets 12-8 in the second.

Crosby hat trick helps Penguins rout Flyers
Hall's last postseason outing was on May 23, 2010, when his junior team, the Windsor Spitfires, won back-to-back Memorial Cups. The Flyers need more speed on the top line, so look for Travis Konecny to replace Raffl in Game 2 on Friday night.

But Winnipeg quickly turned the tide.

"We were able to give ourselves a chance a grab a lead there and even when it's tied we were still in good shape", Parise said. I don't think it's for a lack of effort. They were aggressive all over the ice.

For all of the things that went for the Flyers on Friday they may need more efforts like this from Elliott if they are going to win this series.

If they keep taking penalties and giving up that many shots Elliott is going to have to be the difference in the series. Evgeni Malkin led the Penguins with 42 goals and 98 points and former Toronto Maple Leafs right winger Phil Kessel was second on the Penguins with 92 points.

Matt Cullen and Zach Parise scored for Minnesota.

Boudreau: "I think all the matchups were hurting us tonight". During the regular season, in his career, he has gone 53-26 with a 2.50 GAA in his home games and 31-18 with a 2.23 GAA against the Central Division, while against the Wild he has gone 5-2 with a 2.52 GAA.

The Wild are 1-6 in their last seven conference quarterfinal games.

Fans are primed for these playoffs. "I'm definitely going to be looking at the replays because the crowd went nuts". Next door to Bell MTS Place, a block was closed for a street party, highlighted by the game shown on two giant screens for fans in the NHL's smallest market.
