This makes Yan the second female director to make a DC movie, after Patty Jenkins, and the first Asian woman ever to direct a superhero movie.
Deadline is reporting that Cathy Yan, a former Wall Street Journal reporter turned filmmaker, is Warner Bros.' pick to direct Margot Robbie in an upcoming Harley Quinn standalone film. The film is expected to be based on the "Birds of Prey" comics storyline and feature numerous female characters from the DC universe teaming up with Robbie's Harley.

She is still negotiating to star with Leo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Beyond that, she's mostly worked on short films as a producer and writer.
