Syrian state-run television reported Tuesday that Syrian air defenses have faced a new "aggression" in excess of Homs, however, didn't say who carried from that the air-strikes.

State television did not mention three missiles that were fired at Dumair military airport, north-east of Damascus, that pro-Iranian Hezbollah's media service reported were also intercepted by Syrian air defences.

The source of the missiles is still unknown.

Iranian news agencies also reported missiles being fired toward Shayrat.

The game also had to be delayed at the start of both halves as fans protested against the match being played on a Monday night. Mainz midfielder Pablo de Blasis scored the penalty to put the hosts 1-0 up.

In addition to praising the recent victory of the government troops in the East Ghouta region, east of Damascus, the protesters demanded the departure of the invading United States troops from Syrian territory and the closure of their military bases.

The US Department of Defense said there was "no USA military activity in that area at this time".

Syria denied it was responsible for the attack, which killed at least 80 people.

Israel's main concern in Syria is the growing influence of Iran, which it says supplies weapons to Hezbollah from inside the country.

Syria AIRSTRIKE - Military responding to 'ISRAELI ATTACK' in Damascus and Homs
Syrian air defenses are responding to a new series of strikes, according to multiple news reports published on Monday night . Social media reports are pointing the finger at Israel for the strikes.

The latest strike came in the wake of the airstrikes launched Saturday morning by the U.S., France, and Britain on Syrian military targets in the capital Damascus and Homs over similar allegations of the use of chemical weapons in the previously rebel-held town of Douma near Damascus by Syrian government forces.

Asked about the missile attack, an Israeli military spokesman told Reuters, "We don't comment on such reports".

Israel has struck Syrian military targets before and was blamed for strikes earlier this month on the T4 air base in Homs.
