Night Court actor Harry Anderson found dead at 65

The news was confirmed by the Asheville Police Department.

Anderson was nominated for three consecutive Emmy Awards in the mid-1980s for his portrayal of the eccentric Judge Harry Stone on "Night Court", IMDB says.

"This morning at 6:41 a.m. the Asheville Police Department responded to the home of actor Harry Anderson where he was found deceased". The statement said foul play is not suspected.

Anderson also had roles on "Cheers", "The John Larroquette Show" and "30 Rock", as well as 12 appearances on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" to show off his magic skills.

Charles, at the time, was producing Cheers and asked Anderson to guest-star on the show as con man Harry "The Hat" Gittes. The series lasted four seasons on CBS. He also starred in the 1990s sitcom "Dave's World", based on the life of Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Dave Barry.

Anderson is survived by two children from his first marriage to Leslie Pollack, and by his current wife Elizabeth Morgan.
