Alexa may be getting some legs.
Amazon is working on a secret line of robots for the home, possibility aiming to make its virtual assistant mobile, according to a report this morning from Bloomberg News, citing unnamed people familiar with the company's plans.
Investment Research Analysts Opinion: AECOM (ACM), Wynn Resorts, Limited (WYNN)
The ratio improved due to WYNN positioning: 37 sold and 149 reduced. 75 funds opened positions while 153 raised stakes. Torray Llc increased its stake in Loews (L) by 13.25% based on its latest 2017Q4 regulatory filing with the SEC.
The sources didn't specify what the robot does, though it could be a mobile Alexa that follows a user around the house using advanced cameras and computer vision software similar to how a self-driving vehicle operates. Some of the sources say that it could operate as something of a portable Alexa speaker, ensuring that Amazon's AI is never out of earshot. In other words, it'll have to solve some kind of problem in a way that every other domestic robot - from the versatile Pepper to the adorable Jibo - hasn't.
Still, the vision of a C-3PO-like robot in every home is an intoxicating sci-fi vision that's hard for big tech companies to ignore.

Several other companies already sell robots that can navigate around houses.
The company has a robotics division that builds the industrial machines that do automated work in its warehouses, but this project is being overseen by Gregg Zehr, president of Amazon's Lab126. If everything goes accordingly, Amazon could start sending robots home with employees by the end of 2018, with the possibility of a public launch in 2019.

If Vesta is indeed just an Amazon Echo speaker that can walk from room to room, let's hope it at least is equipped with cup holders.
