Several users have filed a class action lawsuit against Apple, accusing the tech giant of creating a keyboard design for its MacBook models that makes the devices more prone to getting sticky keys, literally. This reporter, who wrote the inciting piece about how her MacBook Pro keyboard simply couldn't remain functional regardless of how many times she got it fixed, has since sold her 2016 model back to Apple and continues to use her 2013 MacBook Pro, praying every day that it doesn't die.
According to the original filing, "Apple's butterfly keyboard and MacBook are produced and assembled in such a way that when minimal amounts of dust or debris accumulate under or around a key, keystrokes fail to register". It targets MacBooks from 2015 or later and MacBook Pros from 2016 or later, all with the butterfly keyboard.

In 2015 Apple presented another key switch system that enabled it to create a console considerably more slender and with a littler measure of movement. A support document issued to some of the authorized service providers talks about a method of cleaning the keyboard with a can of compressed air.
